Living in Canada, we are so blessed to have our basic necessaties and many other desires to be met on a regular basis, while others around the world are not so privileged. I am very grateful for the many opportunities I have been provided with and would like to make a difference by giving back to the World Partnership Walk. The walk is very near and dear to my heart as it was founded in Vancouver by 6 women and one of the women was my aunt. More specifically, the walk's focus is to eliminate world poverty by teaching a man to fish, and feeding him for a lifetime. From every accessory (purse, bangles, henna tattoos, and anklets) sold I will donate 75% of the proceeds to the World Partnership Walk.

 

The walk is in its 31st year, and takes place every year in over 10 cities across Canada. 100% of donations made to the World Partnership Walk go directly to fund Aga Khan Foundation Canada international development projects.

 

Projects are identified and implemented by local communities, targeting areas of greatest need and providing long-term sustainable solutions – like revitalizing a rural economy, ensuring clean water and sanitation, strengthening community-based organizations and educating new generations of girls and women.

Funds raised by the Walk also help AKFC to leverage additional support from major donors like the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD). This means that the impact of every dollar you raise is multiplied many times over. You can read more about the walk here.
